The Girls Choose project is aimed at raising awareness on child, early and forced marriages (CEFM) as well as creating an enabling environment for the elimination of child, early and forced marriages in Masvingo Urban and Chivi Districts of Masvingo, Zimbabwe through empowerment of young girls to influence policy makers and stakeholders in their constituencies to enact and enforce laws against child marriage. With the child marriage prevalence in Masvingo at 26%, the Girls Choose project empowers girls and community leaders to address driving factors for early and forced marriages through innovative approaches that pursue a community driven response to ending early and forced marriages. The project will be community driven as young girls including young mothers who are victims of early and forced marriages who will be trained in youth advocacy work related to ending early and forced marriages.
